Mia
Hylje is owned by the efficient and dynamic ice rink mom, Mia, who can often be spotted at rinks, workout sessions, cottages, and boating trips—always wearing her HYLJE Action Camo overall. As a winter cyclist, she speeds through the cold in a black HYLJE Action Light overall, with her helmet snugly tucked inside the hood.

Eero
Eero shares the reins of Hylje alongside Mia. His go-to overalls are the HYLJE Snow Camo M05 and the legendary HYLJE Hopeahaalari, making him easy to spot even on the ski slopes. For the most demanding snowmobile adventures, Eero gears up in the warmth of the HYLJE Xtreme overall.
"Still holding onto the '86 model overalls"
HYLJE® overalls originated in the 1970s in Kaarina, Finland. Production later continued under the Lomatex brand. When manufacturing moved to Rovaniemi, the overalls were tested by local snowmobile factory test drivers. Their exceptional warmth was put to the test and proven effective even during the Cold War, notably in 1985, when a Soviet missile fell into Lake Inari—keeping YLE journalists and camera crews warm during their coverage of the event. From the very beginning, HYLJE overalls have also been a favorite among snowmobile safaris, enduring years of heavy customer use without issue.
In 1996, HYLJE overalls were sold to Luhta, where the brand nearly lost its legacy. However, in 2017, the trademark was rescued by Topper Uniform, a company based in Lieto, Finland, bringing the overalls back to their golden era standards. Today, modern materials and functional design improvements ensure an outstanding overall experience for a variety of uses.
Hylje’s headquarters have now settled in Naantali, following entrepreneur Mia Ruusumo, the former owner of Topper Uniform. Today, the brand continues its journey under Hylje Wear / Ruusumo Family Group Oy.
From the very beginning, HYLJE® overalls were developed in collaboration with authorities and professionals. This tradition continues today, as we work closely with various user groups to ensure our overalls pass multiple rigorous tests in challenging conditions. At Hylje, we take pride in creating overalls that meet the needs of demanding users, maintain their performance, and, with proper care, last year after year.
